Lamb Day

Lamb Day is always a lot of fun. We see family that we don’t get to see very often and the kids love playing with all of the cousins. Grandpa Larry had fun giving the kids rides on the 4 wheeler.

Sheep Show

The girls have been working really hard to get their sheep ready for the Lamb Day Sheep Show. They have fun spending time with their dad waking and feeding the sheep.

Taylor gets to sell her lamb in the sale. She loves making the money and she is so good with it. She pays for some of her school clothes with the money she makes and saves the rest for something she really wants. She is thinking about redecorating her room with some of the money this year. She sold her lamb for $500!!!

Time for Braces :)

So I always thought you got braces when you were in high school sometimes middle school, but not anymore! Taylor got braces this summer at 9 years old!! She was pretty excited to get them which is really nice because when I got mine I was 14 and I thought getting braces was just awful so im glad she can have them now and not be so self conscious about them. We have been really lucky and not only does she look very cute with them but they really haven’t bothered her to bad!!!

Softball

This was Brooklyns last year playing T-ball and she couldn’t have been happier when it was over lol Ive tried telling her next year will be more fun but I don’t think I have convinced her. Here is a picture of her playing first base. She was more interested in her conversation :)

Taylors team went to state this year and they did very good!!! It was a lot of fun to go watch them but it was so hot. The first day it was a 103 degrees while they were playing!!!! I felt so bad for the poor girls.

OUCH!!!!

This summer while I was busy inside cleaning Shaylee was having a great time jumping on the trampoline. All of the sudden I heard that scream that no mother wants to hear and I went running outside to find Shaylee laying on the trampoline holding her shoulder and crying like crazy. She wouldnt get off the trampoline because she said it hurt to move her arm. After getting her inside I looked at her shoulder thinking maybe she had dislocated it but i couldn’t see or feel anything. It was hurting her bad enough I knew I better get her to the doctor. While the doctor was looking at her he told me her shoulder and arm were fine but she keep crying when we would move her. He took her chin and tilted it upwards and Shaylee lost all color and then came the scream. It got a little scary from there. The doctor told me he was very worried about a neck injury and not to let her move at all while they tried to find a neck brace that would fit her. We got lucky and they let me take her over to the hospital in my car rather than ride in an ambulance for a CAT scan. I was so worried about Shaylee and the wait seemed to take forever. However luck was on our side again and Shaylees neck was fine she had just pulled the muscle running up her neck. OUCH!!! She hated wearing the neck brace and couldn’t have been happier when the doctor let her take it off!!!

Fire

This year we had a very mild winter I LOVED it, until summer when it seemed like the whole state was on fire!! Usually the summer brings pretty green yards and mountains even though Utah is a very dry state but this summer was very different. Not only did we not get enough snow through the winter May and June were so so windy it just dried everything up even more than it already was. Towards the end of June the mountain to the east of us started on fire. It seemed like it happened so fast. We had been outside with the kids playing and there wasn’t any smoke in sight we came in the house to get Mike ready for work and when he left thirty minutes later there was smoke and fire all over the mountain. The wind blew like crazy and the fire spread very fast. Before long it had went up and over the mountain top and was now heading towards Fairview. Having my family live in Fairview we keep giving each other updates on what was happening on both sides of the mountain. Fairview ended up being evacuated because the fire got to close to town. By the time this fire was put out it had burned thousands of acres of land. So many people lost so  much, homes, livestock, grazing land for their livestock and sadly there was one death caused by this fire. I feel so sad for the people who lost so much and I am VERy greatful that all of my family was safe and lucky enough not to lose anything. While this fire was burning another fire started on the mountain east of Fairview which is where Mike works. They wouldn’t let the miners drive up to work for quite awhile. I cant say it wasn’t nice having Mike home but at the same time he wasn’t getting paid and we keep hearing rumors that if the fire got close enough to the mine they wouldn’t be able to reopen the mine. Luckily everything ended up working out but I cant say it wasn’t a scary summer. Lets hope we get snow this winter (and that’s coming from someone who HATES snow)!!!!!!!
